Peugeot Cars Australia is using its sponsorship of the Women’s Australian Open golf championship in Melbourne this month the preview the all-new, award-winning 3008 compact SUV.
The nicely-styled Peugeot goes on-sale locally in May, however attendees at the Women’s Open at Melbourne’s Commonwealth Golf Club will be able to check-out the newcomer and sample its spacious interior – 1,604 litres of luggage space with the rear seats folded or 512 litres with the seats in place. That should handle a few sets of clubs in the back for a weekend golf trip.
In fact the load area boast some innovative technology – the floor can be compartmentalized and has a three-way height adjustment.
Versatility is the key with SUVs, so if you’re considering purchasing in this segment, it might be worth waiting to investigate Peugeot’s offering - or visiting the Women’s Open Championship.
On style alone, the 3008 scores highly with its good looks cued from the good-looking 308 hatchback.
Although Peugeot is being tight-lipped about details this far ahead of launch, we’d expect a price tag around the $30,000 mark to compete with vehicles like the Renault Koleos and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Sold in Europe with a variety of petrol and diesel engines, it’s likely the local lineup will be headed by Peugeot’s 2.0-litre HDi diesel which delivers handy fuel consumption as low as 5.6l/100kms and CO2 emissions of just 146g/km.
Safety is top shelf with the 3008 awarded the maximum five-star rating by Euro NCAP.
