Peugeot has confirmed its new 208 compact hatchback will launch in the second quarter of next year in both three-door and five-door configurations.
Smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic than the 207 model, the all-new Peugeot 208 nevertheless delivers more rear seat and luggage space.
Styling is also more dynamic than some Peugeot models - featuring boomerang-shaped rear lights and different quarter panels for three and five-door versions - as the French company targets the newcomer to younger buyers.
Same inside, with a modern, fun-filled look which is distinctly different to other Peugeot models – highlighted by an elevated instrument panel and large touch-screen.
Power comes from a new range of 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engines as well as diesels (most with auto start/stop) and e-HDI micro-hybrid. Average exhaust C02 emissions for the Peugeot 208 are 34g/km less than the 207.
Green credentials of the 208 are also impressive with 25 per cent of its total polymers coming from re-cycled or natural-origin materials and Peugeot is claiming a world-first for the rear bumper and engine fan assemblies which are made 100 per cent from these materials.
