Former Volkswagen styling chief Peter Schreyer, the man responsible for the turnaround in Kia design in recent years, now has the added responsibility of Hyundai design.
Mr Schreyer was recently announced as one of the three global presidents at Kia and the additional responsibility of overseeing design for sister company Hyundai is no surprise.
“Strengthening our fundamentals, especially in the area of design, is imperative to secure long-term competitiveness,” commented Hyundai’s Woon-Chuck Yang.
Your Car Showroom correspondent recalls a memorable dinner with Mr Schreyer some years ago when he opted to illustrate some points he was making about car design by grabbing his pen and rapidly producing some sketches on napkins. We should have framed those sketches – they might be worth a few Deutschemarks these days.
