General Motors’ British brand Vauxhall has turned up the heat for its stylish Insignia mid-sizer with the introduction of a twin-turbocharged diesel engine and adaptive all-wheel-drive.
The two-litre Vauxhall Insignia BiTurbo delivers 143kW at 4000 rpm and peak torque of 400Nm arrives from 1750rpm. But with planet-friendly features, including auto start/stop, Vauxhall’s most potent Insignia is actually more economical than the previous single-turbo CDTi 2.0-litre engine.
Vauxhall says the twin sequential turbocharger system was selected for improved driveability – clever sequencing reduces turbocharger ‘lag’ in low to mid-range engine speeds.
All Vauxhall Insignia BiTurbo models come with sporty adaptive damping and four-wheel-drive variants gain an electronically-controlled differential.
