Nissan has been awarded the 2012 Low Carbon Car/Van Manufacturer of the Year by Britain’s Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
The judges praised Nissan for launch the mass-market LEAF all-electric small car, supported by a network of public recharging stations – the massive initiative putting zero-emissions electric vehicles firmly in the minds of new car buyers.
According to Nissan, 80 per cent of daily driving in Britain is below 25kms – well within the 180kms range of the LEAF.
Nissan’s win is impressive as some 44 companies were shortlisted in the process.
