Nissan Venucia ‘The-X’ Concept Looks Good

But that’s about it, really.

Carmakers generally go to great lengths to prove that their claims hold water, particularly to the press, as we approach every bold claim with great skepticism and hold companies to task to prove that they can walk the walk. To that end, manufacturers often afford us opportunities like drives of prototype cars, insight into the development process, and every once in a while they’ll put out some marketing materials to detail how much money/time/effort they’re investing into the next-generation of products/features.

Those efforts usually culminate into a concept car that’s jam-packed with features and innovations, with launches accompanied by lengthy press releases and massive photo galleries aimed to provide the public a better idea of where the company’s heading and how exactly they intend to do so.

However, the Nissan Venucia X concept is quite different. It looks good, the way concept cars are generally demanded to be. But beneath the pretty looks… well, there’s little to know about it, really.

Venucia is a brand developed between Nissan and Chinese counterpart Dongfeng, and positioned slightly below the Nissan marque in China. However, the Venucia X concept car previews a “new, advanced design language” for the brand that we think is imposing, and rather handsome.

However, details taper off from there, with the cabin said to be “highly innovative and futuristic,” and then ending it there. Squinting at photographs lead us to believe that this might be a 7-seater… and industry trends suggest that there might be an electric powertrain under the skin, reinforced by the opening-less grille. But then again, that expansive bonnet could hide any number of things including a nuclear power plant (just look at it).

What’s interesting though is that the Venucia X looks rather posh. If the concept design is brought in its entirety into production, perhaps Nissan and Dongfeng would then seek to reposition the Venucia brand a bit higher up the ladder in China. Perhaps.
