The Juke is Nissan UK’s top-selling compact SUV/crossover and now comes word of the ultimate high-performance version- the Juke-R. Not to be confused with the Nissan GT-R – but you get the picture.
The racy Juke is being developed in Britain by the RML race team and Nissan Technology Centre for Europe.
Although a one-off concept at this stage, the Nissan Juke-R combines the Nissan GT-R drivetrain with a Juke body and interior. That’s like Porsche screwing a Cayenne onto the chassis of a 911 Turbo S.
So you get the Nissan GT-R’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine, six-speed transaxle, all-wheel-drive and held onto the road via 20-inch rays alloy wheels. That’s some compact SUV!
At this stage the one-off prototype has race seats and a roll cage, but Nissan says the pan is to make a fully legal road-registered version.
See this is how the Volkswagen Golf GTI and even HSV started…and then the customers started lining up to buy one!
