Nissan has unveiled two ‘world-first’ new technologies called “Electro-hydraulic Power Steering” and “Electric Driven Intelligent Brake”.
The new systems are scheduled to debut next year in North America and Europe, fitted to the Infiniti M Hybrid.
Nissan says the motor in the Electro-hydraulic Power Steering System – dimensionally smaller than normal systems - is only activated when the driver is steering and offers the best of both worlds – the natural smoothness of hydraulic power steering and the enhanced fuel economy of electric power steering.
The Electric Driven Intelligent Brake uses the vehicle’s electric motor to directly operate the brake cylinders. With this system, the hydraulic pressure of the friction brake is controlled to help maximize the energy regeneration of the hybrid motor.
Infiniti M Hybrid will be driven by a petrol engine, electric motor and Nissan’s Intelligent Dual Clutch Control using separate electronically controlled clutches on the drive wheels. Nissan says this will deliver environmental efficiency and the dynamic driving experience expected by Infiniti customers.
