Nissan has issued a recall order for approximately 3.5 million of its vehicles (including Infiniti) due to an issue pertaining its front passenger airbag sensor, leading to a possibility of it not deploying properly or at all during the event of a crash.
In such an event, the seat-embedded sensor does not register the occupant, thereby leading to the airbag failing to deploy. Fortunately, Nissan Australia has clarified that the defect does not effect Australian-delivered vehicles.
North America is where the bulk of effected vehicles are located with 3.2 million units, and the remaining 300,000 cars being spread across Europe and Asia.
