Nissan van customers in Australia have been patiently waiting for a replacement for the ‘Vanette’ for, oh, a couple of decades really…but the answer may have appeared in the form of the Nissan NV400 which has just been launched in Britain.
No official word from Nissan Australia on local plans – but, hey at least it’s a slick, good-looking Nissan van…so that’s a start.
Of course the Nissan NV400 is an ‘Alliance’ vehicle (it’s actually based on a Renault product and the French giant continues to produce some of Europe’s best commercial vehicles). But the Nissan NV400 boasts Nissan style created by the stylists at Nissan Design Europe in Paddington (London) and was engineered in the UK by Nissan Technical Centre in Bedfordshire.
The Nissan NV400 is available in both front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive configurations and employs three versions of the Euro 5-compliant, 2.3-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with outputs of 75kW, 93Kw and 112Kw.
Nissan says the Nissan NV400 will be sold in three different wheelbases, four different lengths, three heights and with cargo volumes ranging from eight square-metres to 17 square-metres. Inside is a handy Bluetooth, iPod, USB audio system, integrated Tom Tom satellite navigation and an optional reversing camera.
The Nissan NV400 is a key plank for Nissan’s plans to double its share of the European commercial vehicle market within three years.
