It’s official – the electric Nissan LEAF is world’s fastest car in reverse. A LEAF driven by professional stunt driver Terry Grant covered 1.6kms at an average speed of average speed of 88km/h – while driving backwards.
Here’s the thing – the all-electric Nissan LEAF is direct drive, so in theory it is possible to drive as fast in reverse gear as it is in ‘drive’ – albeit considerably more difficult.
Grant and the Nissan LEAF set the benchmark in England at the annual Goodwood Festival Of Speed.
Mr Grant is a bit of a ‘serial’ performer at Goodwood. Just last year he set a record driving a Nissan Juke compact SUV up the hillclimb course – on two wheels!
After this latest record, driving the Nissan LEAF backwards, his only request was for a massage for a stiff neck.
