Portugal’s Polcia de Seguranca Publica (who attend to urban areas) have become the world’s first Police force to embrace zero-emissions vehicles – they’ve take delivery of a fleet of Nissan Leaf electric hatchbacks.

Decked-out in stripes and flashing lights, the Portuguese cop cars look far removed from the massive V8s used by law enforcement agencies in North America and while their primary role will be a ‘Safe School Program’ the Leafs are equipped to swing into general duty operation instantaneously. With no engine moise they might be very handy in stealth operations.
