Nissan has announced British manufacturing of its excellent LEAF electric hatchback with news the version for U.K. customers boasts more than 100 improvements over the first-generation LEAF.
Now with three trim levels and the option for LEAF buyers to lease their vehicle’s batteries, prices start from £15,990 ($23,345) – after receipt of the British Government’s £5,000 ($7,300) plug-in grant.
Most significantly, technology improvements mean the range of the new Nissan LEAF has been extended to almost 200kms and the battery re-charging time has been slashed by 50 per-cent.
As well, the British-built Nissan LEAF adopts suspension calibration tailored to European drivers, Nissan’s ‘Around-View’ camera system and new interior trims, extra boot space, extra passenger foot space and height-adjustment for both front seats.
The three model grades are ‘Visia’, ‘Acenta’ and ‘Tekna’. Range-topping Nissan LEAF Tekna includes a seven-speaker BOSE audio system, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights.
