Kia Australia’s newly appointed CEO, Damien Meredith has told CarShowroom.com.au that Kia Australia needs to almost double their sales to achieve the targets they have set themselves in the coming 3 years. Currently Kia Australia has approximately a 2.8% market share and they want to lift this to 5% or 50,000 units per year. Another way to look at these targets is Kia wants to be in the top 5 for ever segment they compete in.
Helping drive the sales growth for Kia will be a host of updates and new model launches.
Kevin Hepworth General Manager of Public Relations said “The updated Kia Rio that is due in November will have big changes” hinting to mechanical changes rather than cosmetic updates.
The two cars being launched at the start of 2015 will also be a boost in the arm for Kia. The new Kia Sorento is being launched at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, Meredith expects the SUV to land on Australian shores towards the end of the first quarter of 2015. The top selling Kia Carnival also has a similar arrival date as the Sorento, the Carnival has always been a great seller for the South Korean brand and the all-new Carnival that was premiered in April at the 2014 NYC Motor Show is no different.
Along with new model updates Kia Australia is also looking at increasing their Unlimited Kilometre 5 Year Warranty to Australia’s best warranty which will see Kia offer an additional two years, taking it to an impressive 7 Year Warranty. “We are currently thinking about increasing the warranty we offer and are in the middle of doing our sums” said Meredith.
