Already a CarShowroom.com.au favourite, the excellent Kia Sportage SUV has received some handy updates for 2014, including a new two-wheel-drive Si Premium model priced at $29,990.
The Kia Sportage Si Premium is now the range-topping 2WD Sportage and boasts standard equipment such as a leather interior, 17-inch alloy wheels, six-speed automatic transmission, roof rails, LED DRLs and a reversing camera.
Under the bonnet, the updated Kia Sportage scores the more sophisticated and efficient direct-injection 2.0-litre petrol engine. All-wheel-drive models continue to be powered by Kia’s 2.0-litre R-Series turbo-diesel.
On the outside, the updated Kia Sportage is identified by a new front grille, new-design allow wheels (16-inch, 17-inch and 18-inch) and, at the rear by new LED lights and a ‘shark-fin’ roof antenna.
Inside are new soft-touch materials, a new ‘Supervision’ instrument cluster (with a 4.2-inch LCD display) and electronic adjustment for the drivers’ seat.
On the engineering front, Kia’s focus for the updated S[portage was enhanced refinement and efforts include a new soundproof windscreen, bush-mounted front subframe, a new, more rigid transmission mounting bracket and an intermediate shaft in the front drivetrain so the drive shafts are equal length.
Kia Sportage models sold in Australia are manufactured at Kia’s plant in Zilina, Slovakia.
