Efficient, New TDI Engines for Audi A6 Range in Australia
Audi has given its mid-size A6 sedan some mid-life revisions with new exteriors, interiors and two new fuel-efficient diesel engines.
The entry-level A6 is now the 2.0-litre TDI diesel (125kW) which carries a price of $74,500 and is totally exempt from LCT thanks to its fuel consumption of just 5.8l/100kms. Another newcomer - the A6 2.7-litre V6 TDI, priced at $84,500 - is partially exempt from LCT with fuel consumption of 6.4l/100kms.
Combined with existing models, the two newcomers have reduced the average fuel consumption of the A6 range by an average of 12-15 per cent. Audi now offers 21 vehicles with efficient engines delivering fuel consumption less than 7.0l/100kms – the mark at which LCT reduces.
Efficiency measures to reduce fuel consumption include friction reduction management on both pistons and cylinder liners, re-designed power steering pumps, a new two-stage oil pump and optimized gearbox ratios.
The A6 also gets a new high performance range-topper – the 3.0-litre TFSI Quattro tiptronic powered by a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 and priced at $112,500.
On the outside, the new A6 is distinguished by a single frame front grille, new front fog lights, LED turn indicators in the exterior mirrors, a new rear bumper with a wider diffuser, Xenon headlights (3.0 TDI and 3.0 TFSI) and new 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside there are new rear seats, re-designed head restraints, aluminium trim highlights and a new MMI navigation system.
Audi Side Assist and Audi Lane Assist are amongst the new options available.
The A6 also gets a revised suspension system.
