Audi has lifted the covers from its new A6 luxury sedan range in Europe ahead of global sales from early next year.
While Australian details have not been finalized, in Europe, the new Audi A6 will be available with a choice of two petrol engine (the V6 continues) and three turbo-diesels. Audi says the hybrid A6 with a 2.0-litre petrol engine plus electric motor will follow later.
Again the A6 will be offered in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (Quattro) configurations with either a six-speed manual, CVT or a new S-Tronic automatic transmission. Front-drive models will come standard with ESP.
Audi is also continuing the use of aluminium with the new A6. All-up 20 per cent of the new A6 is aluminium – including the bonnet, front fenders, doors and rear hatch.
Styling is an evolution of the A6 theme – a long bonnet and low, swooping glasshouse for sporty, purposeful look. The new Audi A6 is substantial – 4.92 metres long and 1.87 metres wide.
Inside is a totally new look with the usual Audi opulence and high-tech features including night vision assistant with pedestrian detection, side-assist and active lane assist.
On the options list is a head-up display and MMI navigation system including Google internet services and Bang & Olufsen audio.
