Motor Show Debut For Ford Falcon LPI

Car Showroom will drive the new Ford Falcon ‘EcoLPI’ at the media launch in a few weeks but Ford got the ball rolling by revealing the newcomer at the Australian International Motor Show.

Available in both sedan and ute models the Ford Falcon EcoLPI replaces the previous ‘E-Gas’ LPG system with a much improved, more modern design with significant internal and under-bonnet changes including lightweight pistons, 12.0:1 compression, specially-developed fuel tank, fuel lines and high-pressure pumps.

Maximum power is 198kW at 5000rpm and peak torque of 409Nm arrives at 3250rpm – Ford days that matches Falcon’s six-cylinder petrol engine and is 27 per cent more powerful than the current E-Gals Falcon. Drive is via Ford’s ZF six-speed automatic transmission and fuel economy is as low as 12.5l/100kms.

Ford will roll-out the EcoLPI powerplant in XT, G6, G6E and XR6 sedans plus XL R6 and XR6 utes. For pricing, juts add $2,500 on top of the equivalent petrol-engined model.
