Renault’s excellent Trafic mid-size LCV van was only launched last year but already it is the beneficiary of some significant updates.
Now side head and chest airbags as well as a mobile telephone docking module are standard across the range.
Now the entry level single turbocharged Renault Trafic can be had with the ‘Premium Pack’ option.
And the twin-turbo diesel’s ‘Pro Pack’ has been ditched – now there’s a range-topping ‘Lifestyle Pack’ available for $2,990 which includes handy extra such as ‘media navigation’, 17-inch alloy wheels, climate-control air-conditioning, a heavy-duty battery, LED ceiling lights, upgraded dashboard, heated seats, body colour bumpers and some extra exterior chrome, rear light pillar and a sliding door rail.
For the smaller Renault Kangoo van, long-wheelbase diesel models pick-up more standard features - side and chest airbags as well as rear parking sensors.
Kangoo’s five-seat Maxi Crew model also scores a range-topping ‘Lifestyle Pack (just $1,490 this time) – which adds items like R-Link Multimedia, leather-wrapped steering wheel, ventilation for the rear seat, body-coloured bumpers and dark tinted windows.
Petrol-powered short-wheelbase Kangoos - while retaining the standard ‘barn’ rear doors – can be specified with a tailgate and a ‘Pro Pack’ adds overhead storage , dual sliding doors and side head and chest airbags. This will set you back $790 in short wheelbase or $1,190 on long-wheelbase which also gets R-Link multimedia and front fog lights.
The massive Renault Master van adds a reversing camera and drovers’ side head and chest airbag (except the Motor Home variant which has swiveling front seats).
Again there is now a ‘Premium Pack’ for Master ($1,990), this time adding extras such as Lane Departure Warning and R-Link multimedia.
Prices start at $21,990 (Kangoo), $34,490 (Trafic) and $43,990 (Master).
Don’t forget that Renault has been the number one best-selling LCV manufacturer in Europe for the last 18 years straight.
With so many vans on the roads of Europe that tells you a lot.
