A major update for Holden’s 2014 model year Colorado ute and Colorado 7 SUV sees a more powerful diesel engine, a six-speed manual transmission for ute models and lots more.
And the extra good news is most models see no price change from the outgoing models.
Under the bonnet, Holden’s grunty 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel gains extra grunt – up to 147kW/500Nm for vehicles fitted with automatic transmissions (still 440Nm for manual transmission versions). Speaking of self-shifters – Colorado ute now runs a six-speeder in place of the antique five-speeder of the previous generation.
Inside, Colorado gains Holden’s lauded MyLink infotainment system with embedded apps for BrinGo satellite navigation and music streaming from Stitcher and Pandora – all driven via an integrated seven-inch colour screen on the dashboard. There’s also extra safety in the form of front side airbags for all ute models except the base DX single cab-chassis.
Pleasingly the Holden Colorado 7 SUV gains a reversing camera (now also standard on LTZ model utes and optional on LZ and LT). Reversing sensors are now standard on LTZ and LT grade utes.
Trailer sway-control is fitted to all models (SUV and ute). Utes also score hill-start assist and downhill descent control (except entry-level DX).
