Also unchanged is Mitsubishi Pajero’s hallmark toughness – driver Geoff Pickering just took his mostly stock Pajero to an 11th consecutive victory in the grueling Finke desert race outside Alice Springs.

Mitsubishi Pajero comes with either five or seven seats and all models employ Mitsubishi’s 3.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, delivering 147kW/441Nm and fuel consumption (combined cycle) if 9.0l/100kms.

Reversing cameras are standard across the range, GLX and GLX-R gain voice-control Bluetooth 2.0 and VRX and Exceed add the multi-communications system with 3D satellite navigation and rear parking sensors.

Over the entry-level GLX, Mitsubishi Pajero GLX-R’s extras (part from the two extra seats) 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, tailgate spoiler, side steps and front fog-lights.

Range-topping MitsubisHi Pajero Exceed ramps-up the ‘glam’ with exterior chrome, interior leather and woodgrain highlights and a 12-speaker Rockford entertainment system with nine-inch rear DVD screen and two wireless headphones.

The full lineup is:
GLX (5 Seat) manual $50,990
