Always a trend-setter at the Detroit Motor Show, MINI has revealed first details of its 2011 show star – the Pacemen, a so-called ‘Crossover’ ‘Sport Activity Coupe.
This two-door coupe actually has the same dimensions as the four-door MINI Countryman, but this four-seater takes the traditional MINI styling cues in a more masculine direction with a contoured bonnet and imposing front-end.
From the side, the transparent-looking C-Pillar extends the coupe look, there are large 19-inch alloy wheels and air extractror vents on the broad front fenders.
The windows taper and combine with the rising waistline to give the MINI Paceman a wedge-shape profile and the new rear-end sees tail-lights wrapping onto the outer edges of the rear fenders.
Inside are four individual seats and the usual MINI Countryman Centre Rail console.
Power comes from the MINI John Cooper works 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with 155kW/260Nm and drive is to all four wheels via the MINI ALL4 permanent all-wheel-drive system.
