UK MINI buyers can embrace the company’s support of the 2012 London Olympic Games with the launch of a ‘London 2012’ limited edition model.
The London 2012 MINI is available in Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S and Cooper SD variants and, appropriately only 2,012 will be produced.
Patriotic to the max, the London 2012 MINI runs a Union Jack stripe over the bonnet, roof and tailgate plus London 2012 Olympic graphics on the mirror caps, white roof and side scuttles. Naturally they are only available in Chilli Red, White Silver or Lightening Blue paint – any colour other than red, white or blue would not have worked.
Inside, the piano-black dashboard gains an etching of the London skyline in silhouette and individual numbers for all 2012 cars. Seats are trimmed in red and blue stitching and the headrests feature Union Jack piping and an embroidered version of the London 2012 logo.
To celebrate the launch of the London 2012 model, England long jump champion JJ Jegrade successfully leapt over three MINIs parked side-by side. Impressive to say the least as in less-than-perfect conditions, Jegrade was required to leap six metres to cover the MINIs and a world-class competition long jump is just one metre more at seven meters.
