Just out in Europe and headed for local sale, the MINI Coupe introduces a curvy new look to the hot-selling, sporty compact.
The stylish two-seater rekindles memories of racing Minis from the 1960s.
Power comes from a selection of MINI petrol and diesel engines with the range-topping MINI John Cooper Works Coupe enjoying 155kW/260Nm from its turbocharged, 1.6-litre four-cylinder.
Looks are highlighted by the curvy roof (MINI calls it a ‘helmet’) which gives the Coupe an overall height 29mm lower than regular MINI models and incorporates an ‘active’ roof spoiler which extends automatically at speeds in excess of 80km/h.
MINI has given the Coupe a sporty chassis set-up to optimize the famous ‘go-kart’ handling. Weight balance is shifted forwards, body rigidity is increased and dynamic stability and traction control are both standard.
And even though it’s a two-seater, the MINI Coupe delivers the hallmark MINI versatility with a high-opening tailgate and through-loading for large items.
MINI will announce Australian specifications and pricing for the Coupe closer to local launch.
