MINI Australia will add two new entry models to the stylish two-seat Coupe and Roadster lineups.
The MINI Cooper Coupe and MINI Cooper Roadster will be on-sale from November and, priced from $34,900 (Coupe) and $37,500 (Roadster), they lop the entry-level sticker by more than $8,000.
Under the bonnet is MINI’s naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder which is good for 90kW of power at 6000rpm and peak torque of 160Nm at 4,250 rpm. Standard transmission for both Coupe and Roadster models is a six-speed manual.
The MINI Cooper Coupe is marginally the faster, covering zero to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds, compared to 9.2 seconds for the Cooper Roadster. Same for fuel consumption with the MINI Cooper Coupe rated at 5.8l/100km while the Roadster is a tad worse at 6.1l/100km.
Nothing entry level about the specifications of course – both MINI Cooper Coupe and MINI Cooper Roadster boasting handy inclusions such as 16-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels, sport seats and cruise control.
“With the addition of this engine variant, the striking new MINI Coupe and Roadster are now even more attractive and more attainable to the young and the young at heart,” revealed MINI Australia chief Kai Bruesewitz.
The new MINI Cooper Coupe and Roadster lineup looks like this:
MINI Cooper Coupe $34,900
MINI Cooper Roadster $37,500
