Mini’s new Clubman concept to be wheeled-out in Geneva next month, bucks the ‘Biggest Loser’ concept – compared to the current model it’s gained some girth (an extra 17cms wider in fact) and is a whopping 26cms longer.
Still the hallmark Mini looks but the proportions are stretched to ‘XL’ all in the name of extra space/practicality for the four-door/five-seater – even down to the classic-looking split rear doors. The Clubman Concept follows other recent BMW designs by adopting an ‘air-breather’ on the sides – in conjunction with front apron AirCurtains.
And the ‘double wing’ roof spoiler is straight from current F1 thinking (not that BMW is currently active in F1 – sadly).
It’s a similar story inside as well –major changes to the dashboard to accommodate new instruments and a touch-screen while still maintaining the traditional Mini roundedness.
Although called a ‘concept’, we expect the Geneva show car to be the basis of the all-new Mini Clubman.
