MINI has actually secured the 500th of this strictly limited edition model and this vehicle will be on-track at the Clipsal 500 race meeting in Adelaide as part of the 2010 MINI CHALLENGE motorsport series.

However the remaining nine are available for sale from the second quarter of this year – at a price yet to be disclosed.

The WC50 model honors 50 years of racing for MINI and is based on the MINI John Cooper Works variant with its 155kW turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine. Exterior and interior features make the WC50 extra-special.

Paintwork is Connaught Green (a throwback to the famous British Connaught racing cars of the 1950s and ‘60s) with white stripes. This is the same color scheme used by Cooper in his Formula One Grand Prix cars and on the WC50, Cooper’s signature adorns one of the bonnet stripes and also appears on a facia plaque.

Naturally the WC50 also comes with the John Cooper Works aerodynamics package and Cross Spoke light alloy wheels in jet black.

There are also bi-xenon headlights with sporty black interior surface and additional driving lights with black housings.

Inside, the racing theme continues with Carbon Black trim enhanced by sporty red accentuates. The full leather sports seats have red stitching and the knee and doors rolls are red.

Carbon fibre abounds in trim finishes and the sports steering wheel is finished in Alcatara.

The WC50 has a top speed of 238km/h and zips through zero to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. Fuel consumption is 6.9l/100kms and the C02 emissions are 165g/km.

And everyone here at Car Showroom wants one – now!
