MINI Australia have announced that the company’s 3-door JCW hot hatch newest spawn, the limited run Millbrook Edition, will be arriving on our shores with a local allocation of just 20 examples. Ordering will start somewhere in the first quarter of 2019 with the car itself priced from $57,275 excluding on-road costs.
The Millbrook will join other limited run editions of the MINI to make their way down under, with the most recent being the Blackheath and Kensington, but will adopt a decidedly more performance-oriented stance while also incorporating some exclusive visual touches.
Based on the JCW variant, the Millbrook is powered by the same 2.0-litre B48 turbocharged petrol engine found in the standard car, generating 170kW and 320Nm, and will feature the same suspension upgrades and drive enhancements you’d expect. Power reaches the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission with Launch Control as standard.
The main differentiating factors here are obviously cosmetic and that begins with the ‘Heritage’ paintwork, dubbed Ice Blue, contrasted by dual black on red stripes that run down the bonnet as well as mirror caps lifted from their Black Line catalogue.
On the front we have auxiliary driving lights meant as a nod to the original MINI’s rallying victories back in the 1960s and, additionally, MINI have added gloss black light-alloy 17-inch wheels that ditch the standard-fit run flats for a set of unspecified “performance tyres” - likely Pirelli P-Zeros.
There’s more exclusive goodies on the inside too, with the optional ‘Lounge Leather’ upholstery treatment ticked and matched to Piano Black dash surfaces. Like the common-or-garden JCW, the rest of the Millbrook Edition’s equipment list includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity, head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo.
