This time there will be no fireproof overall or crash helmets, but seven-time former Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher has again signed with German car-maker Mercedes-Benz.
Even though he hung-up the racing kit (for the second time) at the end of last year, Schumacher remains the best-known and most successful race driver in the world.
However his future with Mercedes-Benz involves working in advancing road safety and promoting Germany’s leading car-maker.
“Right from the time he was a Mercedes-Benz junior and of course in the last three years as a driver in our Formula One team, Michael Schumacher has always been committed to our company’s projects. This is why it is logical for both sides to pool their expertise and know-how and use them, for instance, for enhancing driver assistance systems and thus improve safety on the roads,” explained Joachim Schmidt, Mercedes-Benz’ sales and marketing chief.
