At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz added to the SLK roadster lineup with the launch of the SLK 250 CDI – it’s first diesel-powered roadster.
Power comes from the 2.1-litre, direct-injection, turbocharged four-cylinder with 150kW/500Nm on tap. The Mercedes-Benz SLK 250 CDI can cover zero to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds and returns fuel consumption of 4.9l/100kms.
The diesel SLK is indistinguishable from its petrol stablemates – it too has twin exhaust tailpipes for the required sports car look.
In Europe the Mercedes-Benz SLK 250 CDI carries the same specification levels as the petrol versions – three versions of the famous vario hardtop roof, three choices of suspension including the range-topping electronically controlled automatic damping set-up.
