Mercedes-Benz Australia have detailed the updates due to arrive with the facelifted GLA Class ahead of its arrival in the next few weeks, marking the first time a more significant update has been made to the compact SUV.
An initial list price of $43,900 is cited by Mercedes-Benz Australia for the entry-level GLA 180, kicking of a newly refreshed model that’s highlighted by new radiator grille as well as front and rear bumper treatment. New wheels also set this new model apart, such as the 18-inch 5-spoke set on the GLA 220 d finished in vanadium silver or the 20-inch AMG multi-spokes in Himalaya grey.
There are also new LED headlamps available across the range, though Hands-Free Access that includes keyless opening of the boot by swiping a foot under the rear bumper are included for all variants except the GLA 180.
Optionally, a 360-degree camera system can be selected for any 2017 GLA as part of the Vision or Parking Package, giving occupants a bird’s eye perspective of the car on the central COMMAND infotainment screen.
While we’re on the topic, the new GLA has an upgraded instrument cluster and interior trim with more generous use of silver chrome to enhance the high quality feel. Additionally, the range-topping AMG GLA 45 4MATIC performance model gets AMG DYNAMIC microfibre trim.
A pair of special editions also accompany the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA: White Art and Yellow Night Edition. The former will cost an additional $3,780 for the GLA 180 and 220 d but will require upgrading to the optional AMG Line trim pack, or $3,280 for the GLA 250 4MATIC.
The White Art Edition adds sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather plus DINAMICA microfibre with contrasting topstitching and highlight stripes; a sports steering wheel with DINAMICA microfibre grip areas; DINAMICA microfibre trim; a black interior with contrasting topstitching; air vent surrounds in white; 19-inch multi-spoke black bi-colour alloy wheels, Exclusive matt foliation (a discreet stripe design over the car); and a choice of five paintwork options each with a contrasting or complementary exterior foil.
The Yellow Night Edition, on the other hand, can only be optioned for the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4MATIC at an additional $3,990, adding an AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG Performance seats in ARTICO man-made leather plus DINAMICA microfibre with yellow topstitching, an AMG Performance steering wheel in full DINAMICA microfibre with yellow topstitching, plus yellow highlights throughout the cabin including air ventilation rings and door sill panels.
Externally, there are yellow highlights to the front apron, side sill panel inserts, external mirror housing, rear diffuser, wing endplates and the matt black 20-inch, 10-spoke AMG alloy wheels.
