Mercedes-Benz Australia have revealed that pricing for the drop-top version of its two-door C-Class and sibling to the C-Class Coupe, the Cabriolet, will be priced starting from $85,900.
"Our new C-Class Cabriolet is the entry into the world of premium cabriolets from Mercedes-Benz. Sporty and youthful in character and styling, it offers unadulterated open-air driving pleasure all year round," says Prof. Dr Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development.
The base price of just under $86k corresponds to the C 200 Cabriolet, followed by the more powerful C 300 Cabriolet at $99,900, the AMG C 43 Cabriolet 4MATIC at $119,900, and finally the AMG C 63 S Cabriolet at $179,900.
Standard for the Australian is a multi-layer acoustic soft top available in dark brown, dark blue, dark red or black. The acoustic soft top has a multi-layered structure with acoustically effective damping and insulating materials to significantly reduce wind and driving noise.
Both the C 200 and C 300 share the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine but tuned to produce 135kW/300Nm and 180kW/370Nm, respectively. The latter’s extra engine power is accompanied by larger 19-inch wheels, a Burmester audio system, COMAND Online navigation, heated front seats, AIRSCARF neck-level heating, and a sports exhaust system as standard.
The first AMG tier of the new W205 C-Class Cabriolet, the C 43, follows the familiar powertrain recipe of a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine that outputs 270kW and 520Nm of torque, sending power to all four corners via Merc’s 4MATIC system. Over the C 300, the AMG-treated C 43 notably gains adaptive sports suspension. Shifting duties for all variants are handled by a nine-speed automatic transmission
Finally, the range-topping (and rear-wheel driven) C 63 S Cabriolet uses the same 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 that made its debut in the Mercedes-AMG GT, delivering 375kW and 700Nm of torque. As expected, the sporty kit come in full force on this apex variant, offering either 19 or 20-inch wheels, dynamic engine mounts, electronic rear locking differential, and AMG carbon composite brakes. The cabin is furnished in even more luscious Nappa leather.
Mercedes-Benz say that while the first two models, the C 200 and C 300, will be available for customer deliver as early as October, the sportier AMG models will arrive in early 2017.
