BP23 to pack a hybrid powertrain and tons of luxury as standard.
McLaren has continued its slow-drip of information about its new ‘Hyper-GT’ road monster, releasing a sketch allowing us to see (some of) the design of the new British hypercar for the first time.
The new Hyper-GT is being developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the division that handles everything from custom paint finishes to bespoke models. The BP23 is the codename assigned to the Hyper-GT, as it’s the second MSO Bespoke project, and will carry three seats.
The new model will sit above the P1 as the most potent road-going McLaren ever once it arrives, and will take position at the top of the McLaren lineup in the ‘Ultimate Series,’ a tier that’s reserved for its most exclusive models. It’ll be powered by a hybrid powertrain, and will be only the second car by the marque to offer a degree of electrification (after the P1).
The BP23 will bring about the next-generation of carbon fibre structure for the brand, which will underpin more models in the future. Prices are estimated to be about £2-million (or $3.26-million at the time of writing) with deliveries expected in 2019, though we regret to inform interested parties reading this article that all 106 examples of the McLaren F1-successor are already spoken for. There, there…
