Special ops has done their thing again, just for Monterey.

UK supercar specialists McLaren have unveiled a specially-specified model ahead of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, that aims to be both breathtaking and menacing all at once. Its new 600 Longtail (or 600LT for short) has been given a thorough going-over by their Special Operations skunkworks, and has thus been dubbed the ‘McLaren 600LT in Stealth Grey by MSO.’ What a mouthful.

“MSO Bespoke was established to help customers realise their dreams and allows an almost limitless level of customisation where imagination is the only restrictive factor.  With MSO Defined we offer a range of personalisation beyond the standard factory options. For this special 600LT we have combined a sprinkling of both to create a car that showcases the lightness and track-focused performance of this latest Longtail variant.” — Ansar Ali, Managing Director, McLaren Special Operations

As its name suggests, the new Stealth Grey hue, accented by matte-black and McLaren Orange highlights, is based off of the McLaren 600LT that debuted in late-June at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. McLaren Special Operations haven’t at all touched the 3.8-litre V8 biturbo engine under the bonnet, and so it continues to produce 441kW and 620Nm, capable of rocketing the Longtail from rest to 100km/h in under 3-seconds, before hitting a top speed of 328km/h.

In addition to the new paint finish, the 600LT Stealth Grey also benefits from the inclusion of things like a functional carbon-fibre roof scoop, as well as all three offered Carbon Fibre Upgrade packages (swapping out the mirrors, door inserts, front splitter, rear bumper & diffuser, rear deck, and service cover with the lightweight material). Carbon fibre has also been employed on the roof and cantrails, as well as on the front fender louvres. Weight is further reduced by the ultra-lightweight 10-spoke forged alloy wheels, finished in gloss black, that set off that ‘Stealth’ theme.

It continues inside though, where that theme is combined with the 600LT’s potency as the most powerful Sports Series McLaren in production. “Super-Lightweight” carbon-fibre seats have been thrown in from the manic Senna track weapon, and they come with contrast stitching in McLaren orange at that. There’s also more canon fibre on the central tunnel and inner door inserts, while a harness bar and 6-point racing harnesses are thrown in to complicate the act of strapping in.

And in what is perhaps the most out-there interior addition to the 600LT Stealth is the twin hoses that have been integrated into the headliner, a result of that roof scoop that sits on the, uh, roof. But it’s not all dark-dungeon in here: They’ve also thrown in hand-painted keys, and a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system too.

The McLaren 600LT Stealth Grey is a one-off special edition, designed to showcase the capabilities of McLaren Special Operations and their willingness to ‘realise dreams.’ However, with the 600LT still unconfirmed for our market and a base asking price equivalent to $330k, we can’t help but wonder just how much all this dream-realising costs. But then again, if you have to ask…
