McLaren has revealed that it will be bringing a track-special version of their 570S supercar to make its debut at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Called the 570S Sprint, it follows the lineage of similar hardened, lightened, winged-up versions of the 12C and 650S.
But we have seen something of a similar vein before in the 570S GT4, but the sprint has a crucial difference in not conforming to the strict GT4 racing specifications. Naturally, the McLaren engineers did borrow quite a bit from that car when developing the Sprint.
As you can see, the there’s a new fixed and rather large rear spoiler, flat underbody, and thoroughly revised front splitter – all taken from the 570S GT4. There’s also new centre-locking forged alloy wheels, slick tyres from Pirelli, racing livery, a stripped out interior, racing bucket seats, six-point harnesses, FIA-spec roll cage and even a fire extinguisher.
The Woking-based sports car maker did not reveal any concrete details on the car’s power or performance numbers, but they did clarify that some engine calibration work may have taken place to make sure power and torque delivery matched it racier nature and that the exhaust system also has been revised for – in their words - “the best levels of noise”.
There’s no word yet on the availability of the 570S Sprint in Australia, but initial deliveries are due to begin in 2017.
