Mazda says its handsome Takeri concept sedan shows the design evolution of the mid-size sedan…er, that would be the Mazda6 wouldn’t it?
Technically a concept, the Mazda Takeri is a gloriously styled development of the previous Shinari concept but many elements looked almost production-ready. The horizontal rear wheel arch flares blend with curved flares at the front and Mazda’s hallmark five-point grille gets a new look to match with the narrow projector-beam headlights.
Inside, the Mazda Takeri concept boasted four, nicely-formed individual seats and a nicely integrated dashboard layout.
Of course the Mazda Takeri runs the full range of Mazda’s Skyactive technology, including the remarkable clean diesel engine.
Takeri debuts Mazda’s latest technological breakthrough – i-ELOOP regenerative braking which stores harnessed electrical energy in an Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC). Mazda says the EDLC can store more energy than a conventional battery and this enable longer i-stop periods (when the engine is not running) – which contributes to improved fuel consumption.
