“We’re excited to be so close to achieving 100,000 annual sales,” said Martin Benders, Managing Director of Mazda Australia. With an 8.5% marketshare as of November, the Hiroshima manufacturer is looking well on track to not only achieving its 2016 sales targets, but surpassing them comfortably.
Mazda’s SUVs continue to perform strongly, with the new CX-9 SUV racking up 863 sales, with the smaller CX-3 and CX-5 leading the pack in the small- and medium-SUV segments, with 15,493 & 20,702 sales respectively this year. The BT-50 pickup managed an impressive 12,224 sales in 2016, showing a 6.1% improvement over the same period last year.
The passenger car segment is doing well too, with the Mazda3 leading the way with 2,191 sales, the Mazda 2 with 794, the refreshed Mazda 6 with 243, and the award-winning MX-5 managing 97.
“We’re delighted to report an all-time record with our new Mazda CX-9 which was launched mid-year and continuing strong demand for our passenger cars, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. We are confident we will achieve an all-time sales record by December 31st,” Benders said.
