Japanese marque Mazda has announced that it will be offering 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage to all its models come August 1st, putting it on par with the majority of industry players. The Hiroshima-based company said that the move will underscore Mazda’s reputation for solidly-built products.
“The new warranty will give customers another reason to choose Mazda, bolstering confidence in our already-solid reputation for quality, hard-wearing cars.” — Vinesh Bhindi, Managing Director, Mazda Australia
The new 5-year warranty policy is a major upgrade from the previously-observed 3-year coverage, and now leaves only Subaru and Toyota with shorter warranty programs. Mazda as of today joins the ranks of marques like Skoda, Citroen, Ford, Holden, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai that have long offered 5-year/unlimited kilometre warranty coverage, though Kia remains the segment leader with 7-year/unlimited kilometre warranties.
Considering that Mazda is a top-performing brand in our market, the question we’d like to pose is whether or not this actually makes a major difference to the buying public. The Mazda CX-5 for example, a firm favourite in the family SUV space, had been selling strong year-on-year despite the previous 3-year warranty coverage. Will this make a difference for you?
