Practicality is a strong part of the Mazda CX-5 – the rear seat split-folds 40/20/40 but even when it’s in place, luggage capacity is 500-litres.

In Europe, Mazda will launch the CX-5 with choice of front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, manual or automatic transmissions.

Power comes from Mazda’s SKYACTIVE direct injection petrol and turbo-diesel engines.

The petrol powerplant is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder good for 121kW/210Nm and fuel consumption as low as 5.0l/100kms. There are two 2.2-litre diesels (110kW/380Nm and 129kW/420Nm) with fuel consumption as low as 3.8l/100kms (all are European measurements).
