Toyota asserted its market leadership by notching-up 29,846 sales in the month (a market share of 17.6 per-cent), ahead of Mazda (18,582 sales or 11.0 per-cent).

In fact, combining its sales for the first two months of 2014, Toyota is of to its best start to a year since 2010.

Toyota HiLux 4x4 and 4x4 as well as Camry, 86, LandCruiser 200, HiAce van and HiAce bus were all best-sellers in their respective segments in February.

Holden trailed in third place with sales of 17,568 vehicles which was actually more than 1,000 more than the same month last year.

Hyundai was our fourth best-selling brand with sales of 14,954 as the top four all posted higher numbers than February 2013.

Of the rest, the Fiat and Jeep brands continued their sales surge – in fact Jeep outsold Audi and BMW as the Grand Cherokee (1370 vehicles for segment share of 16.9 per-cent) was again Australia’s biggest-selling large SUV. Since the launch of the facelifted 2014 model last year, Jeep Grand Cherokee has held that position for six out of eight months.

Fiat sales are up by a staggering 581 per-cent over February 2013 with the Panda and Freemont models delivering record sales and the Punto recording its best sales month since being re-launched.
