That costs quite a bit more than a phone holder…
Mazda has officially announced the availability of an Apple CarPlay & Android Auto retrofit option for all MZD Connect-equipped models, allowing owners of older cars to benefit from the convenience tech that now comes standards on all new Mazdas. Upgrading to the very-latest tech comes at a cost: $494.98 to be exact.
But of course doing so means that your Mazda would arguably be easier to use on a day-to-day basis, and it might even increase the value of the car ever-so-slightly when it comes time to sell. Especially since all Mazdas offer it as standard now anyway.
The CarPlay & Android Auto update applies to all cars fitted with MZD Connect, starting with the Mazda 3 from 2014. This also tallies with local Mazda boss Alastair Doak’s comments back in July saying that the company will offer an upgrade kit that’ll bring CarPlay & Android Auto to MZD-fitted vehicles by year’s end.
