A limited edition Maserati for us? Isn’t that nice. To be specific, that’s 20 examples of the special Ghibli performance saloon are already hitting showrooms nationwide for a driveaway price of $154,990.
The Scatenato, as it’s dubbed, means ‘Unleashed’ in Italian. In the case of this Maserati, that entails a generous amount of additional equipment over the already range-topping Ghibli, adding such niceties as 21-inch Titano forged alloys, wrap-around Sports Seats in extra supple leather, and a new Maserati Sports Steering wheel.
Those aforementioned seats are also heated (front) while the driver receives 12-way electrical adjustment. A black piano finish has been given to the most of the interior trim. In terms of safety, the Ghibli Scatenato includes active safety and convenience features such as blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition, and active cruise control.
Under the bonnet, we find a Maserati fixture in the form of a Ferrari-built 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine generating 350hp (260kW) and 500Nm sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Pin the throttle from rest and 100km/h is dispatched in 5.5 seconds while tip speed is quoted at 267km/h.
“Unleashed is very much the right word to describe the Maserati Ghibli Scatenato,” says Glen Sealey, Chief Operating Officer of Maserati Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
“The combination of the 350 hp Maserati Ghibli, this unique equipment package, the exclusivity of just 20 for Australia and an equally remarkable price will mean that when the Scatenato is unleashed in Australian dealers, it will not be around for long!”
