The Maserati Kubang SUV might be difficult for some connoisseurs to digest, but with burgeoning global demand for the segment and parent company FIAT now owning Chrysler-Jeep…well the time is right for the Maserati Kubang which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
In fact the Maserati Kubang first appeared as a Maserati concept car eight years ago so one can hardly accuse the Italian brand of rushing into the SUV market.
Certainly a radical departure from the Maserati Quattroporte and GranTurismo, the Kubang nevertheless delivers the hallmark Maserati style, luxury and performance.
Maserati says the Kubang will be powered by a range of new engines being designed in Modena by Paolo Martinelli, it’s legendary powertrain chief. The engines will be produced in Maranello by Ferrari and will drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Other elements – suspension, brakes, driving dynamics and interior appointments will all be to the expected Maserati standard.
