Famed Italian sports car brand Maserati has thrown down the gauntlet to the upscale German mid-size sedans with news its stylish all-new Ghibli sedan will be priced from $138,990 when it goes on-sale locally.
A tad smaller than the superb Maserati Quattroporte which Car Showroom tested a few months back, the two models actually share the same platform and the Ghibli has more than one or two styling cues from its elegant larger sibling.
Inside, the Ghibli goes for a sporty look and certainly adopts the hallmark Maserati luxury but isn’t quite as extravagant as the Quattrporte.
Power comes from a choice of twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engines (301kW/550Nm for the Ghibli S or 243kW/500Nm for the standard model) or a 202kW/600Nm V6 diesel.
All drive via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The full range is:
Ghibli V6 diesel $138,900
Ghibli V6 petrol $139,900
