Lynk & Co., that marque under Geely that aims to bring Volvo-smarts and 21st-century ride-sharing tools to the masses, has taken to the inter webs and alerted all relevant news outlets (that includes us) that they have a new set of teaser sketches to show off of their upcoming 03 saloon which, by the way, we’ve seen already.
The saloon appears to be nearly identical to the concept car we’ve seen before, bearing the corporate design language that we saw once before with the 01 SUV. The 03 saloon is rumoured to sit on the same CMA platform as the Volvo XC40 compact SUV, and will likely feature similar engines as the ones we’ve seen bearing the Drive-E moniker from the aforementioned Swedish manufacturer, as well as plug-in hybrid powertrain setups and perhaps even a full-electric model in the future.
Lynk & Co. as a brand wants to be a member of the digital generation, and as such they aim to offer an ownership experience more in-keeping with the demands of today rather than keeping to a more traditional business model. As such, the marque is expected to offer a subscription-based service (similar to Care by Volvo) for their cars as well as the ability to ‘share’ your car with the press of a button.
Lynk & Co. production has already begun in China, while a second plant in Belgium (that already assembles Volvos) will come online in 2019. Following that (and the launch of the 03) should be the commencement of production of right-hand drive Lynk & Co. models at the PROTON plant in Tanjung Malim, Malaysia.
Stay tuned to CarShowroom as we bring you more updates as they come.
