Hyundai Australia is optimistic the European conceived i40, to be launched at next month’s Geneva Motor Show will join its local model lineup.
Also on display in Geneva is Hyundai’s innovative 1+2 door Veloster coupe which seems certain to arrive in Australia later this year.
The i40 on display is a wagon model and Hyundai says other body types will follow.
A nice looker, the i40 is a premium mid-size vehicle designed and engineered at Hyundai’s European HQ is Russelsheim, Germany and developed specifically for the European market.
Amongst the Hyundai i40’s extensive standard features are heating and reclining front and rear seats and an active de-mist system which automatically detects and counters windscreen fogging. There’s also a heated steering wheel.
The engine choice includes Hyundai’s 1.7-litre diesel which the company claims is the class leader for low emissions – rated at 113g/km.
Expect the Hyundai i40 to lineup against wagon rivals like the Ford Mondeo and Mazda6
