Toyota Australia has moved to quell speculation flowing from the enormous safety-related recalls affecting various models in North America.
No Toyota vehicles sold in Australia are affected.
“Accelerator pedals for Toyota vehicles sold in Australia, and those manufactured in Australia for export, are provided by a different supplier,” Toyota said.
Toyota has recalled 2.6 million vehicles in North America and Canada following reports of accelerator pedals jamming. This follows an earlier recall of 4.2 million vehicles resulting from accelerator pedals getting stuck under the floor mats.
The Japanese company’s rise to global number one has been built on a reputation for quality and reliability.
