Lexus has often irritated the German big brands by debuting premium segment technology and the all-new RC F high-performance coupe which premiered in Detroit is no exception.
In this case, Lexus’ most powerful 5.0-litre V8 offers world-first front engine/rear-wheel-drive technology with a Torque Vectoring Differential. Designed for enthusiastic driving styles, the TVD has three modes (Standard, Slalom and Track).
Power comes from an all-new 5.0-litre, 32-valve V8 engine with “more than” 330kW/520Nm dirivng via an eight-speed automatic transmission. And get this – at cruising speeds the powerplant runs in the Atkinson Cycle for enhanced fuel consumption but when asked to press-on at higher speeds, switches to an Otto cycle configuration.
Styling is a standout for Lexus – unmistakably muscly and purposeful. There are bonnet air outlets like the LFA supercar, side ducts and an active rear wing.
Inside are new sports seats with unique foam internals, plus an all-new instrument panel and steering wheel design.
