McLaren’s next Super Series, or in plainer words the 650S’ successor, has been leaked yet again prior to its official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show next week. The image in question follows the previous casually taken profile view of the car with an official, albeit leaked, image.

It’s as orange as the first leaked picture of the car, and was first published by Bloomberg in an article they have since deleted that seemed to confirm the name 720S, which presumably denotes the number of horsepowers the engine generates.

Speaking of which, the V8 used in this new car will likely be a 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol unit derived from the older 3.8-litre unit used in practically every McLaren model since the 12C.

Another interesting feature this new photo sheds light on is the uniquely winged doors that are hinged at two main locations, therefore opening the same way as the McLaren F1 did, which is a slight but notable difference from the dihedral mechanisms used in their current cars.

The likely reason that McLaren resisted using the same door geometry as the F1 on cars like the 570S, 650S, and MP4-12C was likely down to the amount of structural integrity the roof was tasked with keeping.

With the 720S, which uses their new Monocage II structure, these weak points were worked around and thus allowed the iconic door design to return.

McLaren also - officially this time - revealed bits of the car’s new interior. Specifically, the retractable two-mode instrument cluster that can fold to improve forward visibility that would otherwise be taken up by a fixed instrument cluster.
