The Chiron may be full-speed ahead, but the Veyron will never truly retire.

A few years ago, the 300th Bugatti Veyron coupe rolled off the production line in Molsheim, France. The car in question was a white 16.4 Super Sport model, finished in white, and was one of just 8 US-spec Veyron Super Sport hypercars in history. Of the 450 intended for production, the white Super Sport was the last of the coupes, with the remaining 150 were cabriolet models, or Grand Sport models.

When it was introduced in 2013, a Veyron Super Sport like this would have fetched an eye-watering AU$2-million. As this car is scheduled to come up for auction in January under renowned auction house Sotheby’s, the expected sale price for #300 hovers closer to AU$3.4-million. This car has, in its lifetime, been on display at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, where it sat alongside the first Veyron ever built. Fitting, no?

Since its sale, the white Super Sport has covered under 650km, with over 430km of that mileage racked up by Bugatti test drivers prior to delivery. It’s lived its life in the United States, where service records show that it’s been serviced regularly in Miami, and in Beverly Hills.

Veyron #300 bears the number ‘300’ in its chassis and serial number as well, ensuring no confusion. It’s one of just 48 Super Sport models ever made, producing an immense 1,200hp (or 895kw). This was done by upsizing the turbochargers on the existing engine, as well as fit no less than two extra fuel pumps to ensure that the Bugatti was never left thirsty. Top speed is limited to 414km/h, and it can do the century sprint in a scarcely-believable 2.5-seconds.

Although this Veyron is expected to draw quite a lot of attention to itself at the auction next month, Bugatti cannot be accused of resting on its laurels. The Veyron’s replacement, the Chiron, has already won over enthusiasts and collectors the world over: Read our report on the “incredible” demand the Chiron has garnered.
